July 20, 2020

Bolivian state energy company Empresa Nacional de Electricidad’s (ENDE) subsidiary, ENDE Transmission, has awarded a USD10 million contract to a consortium comprising of Uruguay’s Ingener and German Siemens for the development and commissioning of a 50 MVAr static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) system. This will be implemented at the new 230/115 kV Paraíso substation near Trinidad, in the Beni province, and will improve the quality of power transmission.

Ingener will be responsible for the civil engineering, civil works, electromechanical assembly, the high voltage alternating current (HVAC) system, and the cooling system of the new reactive compensation system.

The contract’s scope is part of the 230 kV Los Troncos–Guarayos–Trinidad line, which will further help in the extension of the Sistema Troncal de Interconexión (STI) or the Interconnected Trunk System of the country, to the north of Santa Cruz and to Trinidad.
