Egypt, Jordan, Iraq plan to establish grid link [free access]

During the Egyptian–Jordanian–Iraqi summit, which happened in the last week of August 2020 in Jordan the three respective countries proposed to establish an electricity interconnection and an oil pipeline for enhancing the tripartite cooperation among the three parties.

 

The grid linkage project has been proposed with a capacity of 1,000 MW, to support exchange of power and take advantage of the different peak times in the respective countries.

 

The summit focused on ways to enhance joint trilateral cooperation in various fields including energy, electricity interconnection, infrastructure and food.
