Linxon submits lowest bid to Saudi’s SEC for expansion of substation [free access]

Linxon—joint venture (JV) between Swiss-Swedish multinational corporation ABB and Canadian engineering services company SNC-Lavalin—has submitted the lowest bid of SAR42.5 million to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) for the expansion of the 230 kV Ghazal substation. A total of five bidders have submitted proposals for the project.

 

The contract involves expansion of 230 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS); installation of 230 kV bus-duct, 230 kV cables, 230 kV outdoor equipment, and protection, control and communication systems at the Ghazal substation.

 

The selected contractor is required to undertake the design, engineering, materials procurement, quality management, factory inspection/testing, transport and delivery to site, installation, construction, site inspection, testing and commissioning, and all associated work and services until final handing over of substation works in a satisfactorily working and operating condition.

 

The duration of the turnkey contract is 20 months from the date of signing.
