ABB Limited has won an order from Bechtel Infrastructure and Power to provide a 345 kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation to integrate electricity generated by the Cricket Valley Energy Station, a new combined cycle natural gas-fired power plant located in Dover, New York.

Honeywell receives two smart grid projects in Mexico

Honeywell has been awarded two new regional smart grid projects in Mexico by a consortium appointed by the country's federal electricity company, Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), to manage its smart grid initiatives. Honeywell's Smart Energy business will deploy more than 200,000 smart electricity meters along with communications devices and software analytics tools to seven cities in CFE's east and southeast regions.

AZZ Inc, a global provider of galvanising services, welding solutions and specialty electrical equipment, has been awarded a USD27 million contract from the China Three Gorges Corporation to provide six circuits of 550 kV 4,000 Amp gas insulated line (GIL) for the 10,200 MW Wudongde hydroelectric dam project on the Jinsha River in southwest China.

Siemens and consortium of Prysmian Group and Balfour Beatty bag HVDC contracts for ElecLink

German engineering company Siemens and Italy’s Prysmian Group, in consortium with the UK’s Balfour Beatty, have been awarded two contracts for the realisation of a new high voltage direct current (HVDC) ElecLink interconnector between France and the UK through the Channel Tunnel. ElecLink, developer of the HVDC project, has awarded the contracts.
