Baltic Cable AB, a subsidiary of Norwegian state-owned hydropower company Statkraft, has selected ABB to upgrade, and thus extend the lifespan of the 250-km-long, 450 kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) Baltic Cable transmission link built in 1994 between Sweden and Germany.
