Singaporean Keppel to invest in 500 MW Australian project [free access]

December 23, 2020

Keppel Renewable Energy, the renewables arm of Singapore-based Keppel Corporation, has offered to buy a 45 per cent stake in Harlin Solar, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established in August 2020 to develop a 500 MW solar farm at Harlin, about 100 kilometres northwest of Brisbane, Queensland.

The said solar farm will boost the renewable electricity infrastructure of Queensland, and will entail two substations and a 500 MWh energy storage facility. The project will also connect to the 275 kV high voltage network in Queensland and will generate enough energy to power more than 142,000 average Australian homes.

Keppel has been taking steps to boost renewable energy production in Asia and plans to invest an overall of USD540 million into the project which will aid the development costs.
