Philippine NGCP seeks regulatory approval for interconnection projects [free access]

July 22, 2021

The concessionaire for the Philippine transmission network, National Grid Corporation of Philippines (NGCP), has applied for regulatory approval to build two interconnection projects worth over PHP22 billion.

The projects in question are the PHP16.87 billion Batangas–Mindoro interconnection and the PHP5.32 billion Quezon–Marinduque interconnection. Both projects involve the laying down of submarine cable, installation of overhead transmission lines and the development of substations.

The Batangas–Mindoro transmission project is expected to resolve supply issues in the Mindoro region by catering to the increasing demand, while the Quezon–Marinduque project will support the power demand in Marinduque Island, and the government’s economic plans and programmes for the island.
