Neoenergia receives approval from FEPAM for 525 kV project in Brazil [free access]

Neoenergia, a subsidiary of Spain's Iberdrola, has received approval from Rio Grande do Sul’s environmental protection agency Fundação Estadual de Proteção Ambiental Henrique Luiz Roessler (FEPAM) for the 525 kV Povo Novo–Guaíba 3 C3 Transmission Line and Associated Network Project in Brazil. The latter project is required to transmit wind energy between the cities of Rio Grande and Eldorado do Sul.


The project forms Lot 14 of the Auction No. 04/2018 that was hosted by Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica (ANEEL) in December 2018. It includes the 525 kV, 245.7-km Povo Novo–Guaíba 3, C3 line; the 525 kV, 251.5-km Capivari do Sul–Siderópolis 2, C1 line; the 230 kV, 27.6-km Siderópolis 2–Forquilhinha, C2 line; the 230 kV, 244.5-km Livramento 3–Santa Maria 3, C2 line; the 525 kV Marmeleiro substation; and the 230 kV Livramento 3 substation.


The project has received approval for its Relatório de Impacto Ambiental (RIMA) or environmental impact report and environmental impact assessment (EIA) report, and is scheduled to complete by February 2022.
