Nigerian government approves contracts to boost electricity transmission [free access]

Recently, the Nigerian government has approved the award of 16 contracts, designed to alleviate the bottlenecks associated with evacuation and distribution of the Nigerian electricity supply industry. These contracts would help in boosting the capacity to transmit and distribute electricity in Nigeria.
It is said that the approvals included the:
2x60 MVA, 132/33 kV Ikare-akoro substation and 2x132 kV lines’ bay extension at Oke-agbe in the state of Ondo worth USD9.9 million and NGN2.4 billion respectively;
NGN2.7 billion contract for the supply of 62 Hilux vehicles and 20 SUVs for operations, supervision and surveillance of over 8,000-km-long grid lines across the country;
NGN322.5 million, 1,500 drums of transformer oil;
Supply of Sergi transformer explosion and fire protection devices for NGN347.6 million;
Construction of 132 kV double-circuit line at Ikere-Ijesa-Isu-Ilupeju towns in Ado-Ekiki, Ekiti State;
Construction of new National Grid Control Centres at Oshogbo;
Construction of new National Grid Control Centres at Gwagwalada, Abuja;
Construction of 330 kV double line to Mando substation in Kaduna at NGN893 million;
2X132 kV lines extension at Ganmo substation at Ilorin;
Design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of transmission lines of transmission lines of 330/132/33 kV at Lekki, Lagos State;
Construction of 2x60 MVA sub-station at Saki town in Oyo State;
Repairs of 100 MVA 132 kV Power transformer at Ughelli;
Construction of 20 km Okegbe-Ikare-Akoko 132 kV transmission line;
Construction of 90 km Iseyin-Saki 132 kV transmission line in Kwara;
Construction of 2X60 MVA 132/33 KVA substation at Malumfashi; and
