December 29, 2021

EDP Energias do Brasil, Brazilian subsidiary of Portuguese energy company Energias de Portugal (EDP), concluded the sale with Actis Assessoria Investimentos Ltda., a leading global investor in sustainable infrastructure, of three transmission line concessions involving 439 km of line length and a Receita Anual Permitida (RAP) or Allowed Annual Revenue of BRL131 million. The three special purpose vehicles (SPVs) sold are—EDP Transmissão S.A., EDP Maranhão I S.A. and EDP Maranhão II S.A..

The sale took place after receiving the final approval from the Brazilian energy regulator Agencia Nacional de Energia Eletrica (ANEEL). EDP Transmissão S.A owns Lot 24 of the transmission auction nº 013/2015 comprising 113 km; EDP Maranhão I S.A. owns Lot 7 of the transmission auction nº 05/2016 of 123 km; and EDP Maranhão II S.A. owns Lot 11  of the transmission auction nº 05/2016 of 203 km.

In October 2021, Pequena Central Hidrelétrica, controlled by EDP, also acquired Celg Transmissão S.A (Celg T) for BRL1.977 billion at an auction held in Brazil. So, EDP now has eight power transmission projects in its Brazil portfolio, totaling to 2,241 km.

These transactions are part of EDP’s asset rotation strategy in the transmission business in Brazil, as defined in its business plan for 2021-25.
