The project is being implemented by Portuguese energy company Energias de Portugal (EDP). It involves installation of a 400 kV line connecting the Foz Tua dam to the nation's grid at Armamar in the Alto Douro wine region, which is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) world heritage site.
