Terna S.p.A., the Italian transmission system operator, has taken up a stake in the Desertec Industry Initiative (Dii), which focuses on power generation from sun and wind in the deserts of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and transmission, to local demand and partly to the European interconnected grid.
