Under the Los Azules project, the San Juan provincial government is planning to expand the existing 500 kV network by building the new 500/220 kV El Rodeo and Calingasta substations, a new 500/220 kV San Juan substation, a 167-km San Juan to El Rodeo transmission line, and a 160-km line from El Rodeo to Calingasta.
