Power utility Russian Grids plans to prepare a five-year plan by August 2013 to modernise grids of its subsidiary Lenenergo. Presently, the latter is implementing a RUB7.6 billion modernisation programme that was launched in 2010. The project includes replacement of 22 lines with a voltage level of 6 kV-110 kV and spanning over 116 km. The company also plans to complete the construction of a 330 kV power ring in St. Petersburg and launch the Vasileostrovskaya substation by the end of 2014.
