Badger Coulee Line Project, US

The project is also known as the La Crosse–Madison 345 kV transmission line. It involves the construction of a new 160-180-mile (257.6-290-km), 345 kV transmission line from Xcel Energy’s proposed Briggs Road substation near Holmen in the La Crosse area to ATC’s North Madison substation in the town of Vienna and continuing to ATC’s Cardinal substation in the town of Middleton in Dane County.

The Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) has issued its formal approval for the Badger Coulee line project. The State PSC also allowed the line to run from a substation near Holmen, north of La Crosse, to the Madison area, while stating that the 345 kV line project is required to maintain the reliability and sufficiency of the network of the region.
