The project has been proposed to connect the 151 MW Dakota Range Wind III farm in South Dakota to the grid. It entails the construction of an 8-mile (12.9-km), 345 kV overhead line in Grant County, connecting the wind farm to a switching station in Mazeppa Township (for connection with the 345 kV Big Stone South–Ellendale line), and a 34.5 kV/345 kV collection substation.
