The government of Zimbabwe has given its permission to unbundle the state-owned vertically-integrated power company Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority Holdings (ZESA). This is to help create a more level playing field for independent power producers (IPPs) to help meet electricity demand. The move will also increase ZESA's operational efficiency and improve its balance sheets.
