As per the European transmission system operator association, European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity's (ENTSO-E) Ten Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP) 2012, Europe will require to invest USD137 billion in refurbishment or construction of 51,500 km of extra high voltage lines (EHV) to accommodate the pace of renewable energy production.
