Global Transmission Research has launched the “new and improved” Global Electricity TSO Profiles and Benchmarking Database & Report (GETSO).

This will be the seventh edition of the report, scheduled for release in February 2026.

The improvements, which are actually significant enhancements, include:

  • A continuously updated database (every month) providing you with the most current and updated information (vs a one-off database updated once a year)
  • Access via Amazon Quick Sight (Quick Suite) platform, with a wide range of business intelligence (BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, enabling extensive analysis, customised dashboards and scenario-building. (HOWEVER, THE CLIENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO RECEIVE AN OFFLINE DATABASE IN EXCEL.)

The database will provide detailed profiles of over 200 transmission system operators (TSOs) and developers in over 95 countries in six regions — North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Each profile will provide historical data from 2019 to 2025 and future projections up to 2035.

The database will have detailed information and data on:

  • Size and growth in the transmission network, 2019-25
    • Line length, by voltage
    • Substation capacity, by voltage
    • Number of substations/transformers, by voltage
  • Operational indicators, 2019-25
    • Annual transmitted electricity
    • Total unserved power transmission per year
    • Network availability
    • Transmission losses
    • Average interruption time
    • T-SAIFI
    • T-SAIDI
  • Financial indicators, 2019-25
    • Revenue
    • Net income
    • Capex/Investment in the transmission network
    • Operational expenditure
    • Return on equity
    • Debt to equity ratio
    • Profit margin
  • Future plans and investment, 2026-35
    • Expected trends in network expansion
    • Expected capex/investment
    • Key planned projects
    • Key contacts

As in previous editions, the database will be accompanied by an executive report covering the following:

  • Key trends and recent developments in the transmission market, including analysis of historical network growth, evaluation of operational performance (such as transmission losses, T-SAIFI, and T-SAIDI), and assessment of the financial performance of TSOs, including revenue, net profit, return on equity, debt-equity ratio, and profit margins.
  • Analysis of future network expansion trends from 2026 to 2035, along with a review of past and planned capital expenditure programmes of leading TSOs.

While the executive report will be published once a year, the database will be updated monthly.

These upgrades will make our database/report an even more powerful tool for your strategic planning and investment decisions.
