Global Transmission Research released its sixth edition of the Global High Voltage Transmission Line Projects Database & Report (GHTLPDR) in a “new and improved” version in October 2025.

The improvements, which are very significant enhancements, include:

  • A continuously updated database providing you with the most current and updated information (vs a one-off database updated once a year)
  • Access via Amazon Quick Sight (Quick Suite) platform, with a wide range of business intelligence (BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, enabling extensive analysis, customised dashboards and scenario-building. (HOWEVER, THE CLIENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO RECEIVE AN OFFLINE DATABASE IN EXCEL.)

The database is still among the most comprehensive of high-voltage transmission line databases, covering more than 2,600 projects in 96 countries across the world. It includes new-build projects as well as refurbishment/uprate/upgrade projects. It also covers over 200 cross-border and 140 offshore projects. More than 900 projects in this database also have an associated substation.

The database only tracks transmission projects of 200 kV and above voltage levels and with more than 25 km of line length. It covers projects which are announced or planned or under development or under construction. It does not include commissioned projects.

The database provides detailed and up-to-date information on each project, including a description, developer, route, rated voltage (kV), technology (AC or DC), length (km), estimated cost, current status, contractors, scheduled completion and contact details.

As in previous editions, the database is accompanied by an executive report covering the following:

  • Key trends and recent developments in the transmission market such as new project opportunities; policy and regulations; supplier and investor updates; and financing and technology trends.
  • Global analysis of the covered projects by voltage, technology, type of line, type of project and status.
  • Analysis of the projects for each of the six regions (North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) (and their respective countries), in terms of voltage, technology, type of project, type of line, and status.

While the executive report will be published once, the database via Amazon Quick Sight platform will provide updated (almost real-time) analysis.

These upgrades make our database/report an even more powerful tool for your strategic planning and investment decisions.
