After Belarus issued a permit for power start-up and commercial activities of the first unit of its Astravets nuclear power plant (NPP), Lithuania's electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has informed operators of the BRELL—a Soviet-designed energy ring linking Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, about the launch of legal proceedings to take control of Lithuania's power interconnections with Belarus.
