The USD70 million project will help strengthen the Sistema Eléctrico Interconectado Nacional (SEIN) or the national interconnected grid in southern Peru to facilitate the transfer of additional energy from new generation projects such as the rehabilitation of the 100 MW Cavern N° 1 of the Machu Picchu hydropower plant (HPP), the 90 MW Santa Teresa HPP, the 150 MW Pucara plant and the 200 MW Quillabamba plant.
