According to TCN’s Transmission Expansion Plan 2017, the country is expected to add close to 23 GW of generation capacity between 2021 and 2029. Of the new installed capacity, about 73.5 per cent will be thermal based, 17 per cent will be hydro based, and the remaining approximately 10 per cent is expected to be accounted for by solar and wind energy. Further, the majority of these plants are expected to be operated by the private sector in the future.
