New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has rejected the Monmouth County Reliability Project (MCRP) proposed by Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L)—a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation, stating that the developer had failed to demonstrate the necessity of the line to ensure the reliability of power in the region.
