Transco, a new entity created by power companies National Grid, Consolidated Edison, Central Hudson Gas and Electric, New York State Electric and Gas Corporation (NYS&G) and entities New York Power Authority and Long Island Power Authority to undertake expansion of the New York transmission grid, has proposed a transmission network upgrade plan worth USD2.5 billion to the Cuomo administration to maintain the reliability of the state's ageing electric transmission system and provide less costly renewable energy.
