Global Transmission Report has released the ninth edition of the Global Electricity Transmission Database and Report (GETR) in February 2026.

The report analyses the growth and investment opportunities in the high-voltage electricity transmission sectors of 91 countries. It includes the key developments and trends, the latest data and statistics (from 2019 to 2025), and offers growth projections up to 2035. The report focuses on the transmission segment of 110 kV and above levels.

The database provides global, regional, and country-level data from 2006 onwards, with forecasts through 2035.

The database and report is available in two packages.

  • Report + One-time (Excel) database: USD 5,400
  • Report + Continuously updated database (Excel or Amazon QuickSight): USD 7,500

The continuously updated (monthly) database is available in Excel (offline) or online format. The online database is delivered via Amazon QuickSight, enabling advanced analytics, AI- and BI-powered insights, customised dashboards, and scenario analysis.

About the Database and Report

The report (delivered as a PPT converted to PDF) has five distinct sections:

Part 1 – Introduction & Executive Summary

Overview of the study with key findings and insights.

Part 2 – Global & Regional Market Analysis

Assessment of the global high-voltage transmission industry from 2019–2025, with forecasts for 2026–2035. This section examines major trends, growth drivers, and regional outlooks.

Part 3 – Country Profiles (91 countries organized into six regions – North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa).

Each country profile includes:

  • Industry structure, institutional structure, and key players.
  • Existing generation capacity and production, 2019 to 2025.
  • Forecasted demand and addition to generation capacity by 2035.
  • Transmission network and capacity for 2019 to 2025:
    – Line length by voltage level, technology (AC and DC) and by type of line (overhead, underground and undersea)
    – Transformer capacity
    – Number of substation/transformers
    – Line length of key transmission companies
  • Forecasted growth in transmission network and capacity by 2035.
    – Forecasts for line length by voltage, technology (AC and DC) and by type of line (overhead, underground and undersea)
    – Forecasts for transformer capacity
  • Forecasted investment in the transmission network.

Part 4 Appendix providing sources, methodology, and a list of abbreviations.

Part 5 The Excel dataset and online database provide historical data and forecasts for each of the 91 countries, six regions, and global aggregates, covering:

  • Historical installed capacity, generation, and consumption, 2006-2025
  • Planned generation and capacity additions, 2026-2035
  • Historical transmission network and transformer capacity, 2006-2025
  • Planned transmission network expansions and investment, 2026-2035
