Global Transmission Research has launched the “new and improved” Global Electricity Transmission Database & Report (GETR).

This will be the ninth edition of the report and will be released in January 2026.

The improvements, which are significant enhancements, include:

  • A continuously updated database (every month) providing you with the most current and updated information (vs a one-off database updated once a year)
  • Access via Amazon Quick Sight (Quick Suite) platform, with a wide range of business intelligence (BI) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools, enabling extensive analysis, customized dashboards, and scenario-building. (HOWEVER, THE CLIENTS WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO RECEIVE AN OFFLINE DATABASE IN EXCEL.)

The database covers high-voltage electricity transmission sectors of 91 countries, focusing on 110 kV and above levels. It will include historical data and statistics (from 2019 to 2025), and will provide growth projections up to 2035.

Each country profile in the database will provide data and information on:

  • Industry structure, institutional structure, and key players
  • Existing generation capacity and production, 2019 to 2025
  • Forecasted demand and addition to generation capacity, 2026-35
  • Transmission network and capacity for 2019 to 2025
    – Line length by voltage level, technology (AC and DC) and by type of line (overhead, underground and undersea)
    – Transformer capacity
    – Number of substations/transformers
    – Line length of key transmission companies
  • Forecasted growth in transmission network and capacity, 2026-35
    – Forecasts for line length by voltage, technology (AC and DC) and by type of line (overhead, underground and undersea)
    – Forecasts for transformer capacity
  • Forecasted investment in the transmission network

As in previous editions, the database will be accompanied by an executive report covering the following:

  • Key trends and recent developments in the transmission market, an analysis of the performance of the global high voltage electricity transmission industry over the last decade, and forecasts and expected growth for 2026-35.
  • An assessment of the developments and trends shaping the industry, key growth drivers, and outlook and forecast for the industry at the global and regional levels.

While the executive report will be published once, the database will be updated monthly.

These upgrades will make our database/report an even more powerful tool for your strategic planning and investment decisions.
